PAST REVIEWS:

I wanted to like the Polar Babies. But on our small child, they were too bulky for her clothes, and they don't really keep her clothes any drier than Gerber Velcro® covers. So she gets up from a nap with wet clothes. And, of course, the diaper against her skin is still a wet one. -- Joni (June 12/00)

I love my Stacinator Fleece covers... I like them much better than the Polar Babies covers I have. -- S.P. Anderson (Apr 4/00)

After doing lots of on-line research, I decided to try Chinese prefolds with Polar Babies recycled covers. I have been very happy with them. Though it all seemed rather big when Lena was a true newborn, it was dealable. In 3 months, we've only had leakage onto her clothes twice. I figure that's not too bad. The Polar Babies materials are really nice, and I feel good about using these products. (They are something like 85% from recycled 2-liter plastic soda bottles!!) I don't have much to compare these products to, but I also have no reason to try anything else. I'm sticking with it. Highly recommended. -- Rona (Jan 31/00)

Polar Babies out of this world a little pricey you might think but well worth every penny!!! -- Theresa (Jan 30/00)

My favorite diaper covers are Polar Babies and Imse Vimse Bumpy wool covers. Both work very well with pre-folds and are breathable. The Polar Babies run small, so I order one size up. -- Lisa S. (Jan 30/00)

I really love Polar Babies diaper covers. They work great with pre-folds - Keeps the mess where it belongs, even with runny breast-fed baby poop! I haven't had a single leak. They're really breathable, too. -- Michelle B. (Jan 17/00)

Polar Babies are the cutest covers, but there was hardly room for a diaper inside, and that was a size too big for my baby. -- Jennifer Burkholder (Dec 9/99)

My favorite wrap is Polarbabies. Lucky Louis (#4) has had only Nikki wool covers or Polarbabies. They both work great! But, the care for the wool covers was hard for me. The Polarbabies are cheaper, and can be dried over and over with no loss in quality. -- Judy; Davenport, Ia (Nov 18/99)

My favorite dipes are Bumkins AIOs, Baby Moons, and Sandys. I also like wool Bumpys and Happy Pants. These are pricey products, but well worth the investment for easy cloth diapering. DH is so better about diapering since we switched from prefolds to fitted dipes. -- Heather Perry (Nov 6/99)

I love Polar Babies!! -- Tiffany Baker (Oct 1/99)

I love the new Polar Babies cover called Happy Pants. It is for fitted diapers. It is a snap cover that has a fit like a pull on but with side snaps and a little less poofy. The same great micro fiber leg and waist bindings as the original Polar Babies so it is very comfy for the baby! I just ordered another one! -- Christy Whetten (Sept 9/99)

Will report back later once I have tried them all, but I have ordered and/or plan to order and try the following diaper wraps: Nikky wool, Imse Vimse wool and night cotton, Polar Babies, and Wabby cotton. They are all comparable or lower priced than the Biobottoms covers I was seeking to replace for my toddler and soon-to-be newborn which is pricey to begin with, but I believe perform better than some of the other wraps and are therefore worth the investment. They last longer and can be used for subsequent children or loaned out. My experience so far has been very positive with the small, family run companies who sell diaper products. It is a great network of folks who are very responsive to e-mail questions, helpful, prompt, can give honest assessments based on their own experience (i.e. they actually have a toddler!) and carry quality products. -- Jamie Pehanick (Aug 29/99)

I also can't say enough about my Polar Babies Covers, they are so cute!! And they work great with the Prefolds. -- Catherine Richel

I recently bought my first Polar Babies diaper cover. I love this cover. I was using Nikky's and Biobottoms wool covers and I really liked their softness and water resistance, but the legs came open too much and let solid waste out. Also, maintenance on those covers is pretty labor intensive and complicated. I switched to Bummis Industrial Wraps. I really like these because they stay closed and contain all waste. However, they leak if the diaper gets really wet and they are very hot. The polyester material they are made of does not allow air in and out. That is not good in Texas! So far, I am extremely pleased with the Polar Babies cover. My baby soaked his diaper and it did not leak and his skin was not clammy in the diaper area. Over all, he seemed comfortably dry. The Velcro® fastener did not scratch his tummy like the Industrial Wrap and it did not come undone like the Biobottoms bikini style or the Nikkys. I also noticed that the binding around the legs gives a really close fit without leaving red marks on his legs, which are quite plump. I am very impressed with this cover and I will order more as soon as I can afford them. -- Carrie Wehmeyer

Polar Babies covers are the best covers for use with prefolds! They are super soft, don't stain (poop washes right off) and breathable. I would rate them higher than Biobottoms wool covers for use with prefolds! -- Vanessa Bodrie

Polar Babies - I have used these diaper covers and love them. They are breatheable, waterproof and so soft because they are made of polar fleece. It doesn't matter where you live they are perfect. I live in Florida and use them. The care is the easest of all of them. Just put them in a warm wash short or long and when you take them out they are practically dry. Just 15 minutes of air dry or at most 10 minutes in low dryer and they are done. This is perfect if you can only afford a few because they are a little expensive. -- Emmy Wolff
